I am not sure if this headline is wishful thinking, irrational or a dream. Perhaps, not – there are rumours that Syria and Lebanon may join the Abraham Accords. In this blog, I explore what a blueprint for a new Middle East and world order might entail.
But let’s go back a step. We’ve seen a disturbing and relentless focus on destroying Israel. The latest incident occurred at the Glastonbury music festival, and the BBC is airing it live.
Instead of chanting death to the IDF, they should be thanking the IDF for taking down the colonist, evil Iranian regime and making the world a much safer space.
Instead, there is a flood of energy, money, influence, and propaganda—all fixated on one small nation. This obsession has consumed the world’s headlines, university campuses, and diplomatic chambers. But as we stand on the brink of escalation and ruin, I ask:
What if we redirect all that energy toward good?
Breaking News: Iran Joins the Abraham Accords. Saudi Arabia and Iran Sign Peace Charter. Hamas Ordered to Disarm—Full Recognition of Israel's Rights to live in peace as the only Jewish State Announced.
Middle East leaders declare:
“It’s time for peace, prosperity, and a new world order built under a shared covenant with God.”
Imagine that headline.
Is it a dream? A prophecy? Or just the headlines we wish to see?
In this vision, Hamas is ordered to surrender unconditionally, Israel’s right to exist is affirmed, and a realistic, humane solution for the Palestinians is finally tabled—one that includes Jordan, a Canton-like governance model the for the Palestinians, and supported emigration from Gaza to Arab nations willing to help Gazans build new, better lives—rectifying the mistakes of the French and British mandates of 100 years ago.
And beyond that? A miracle in governance—the region adopts the United Nations SDGs as its foundation for peace and development.
A spiritual, ethical, and economic reset.
This would mark the beginning of a new dawn for civilisation.
Beyond War: Toward a Global Covenant
We’ve already seen what happens when hatred rules.
The world stood on the edge of the abyss.
But now we glimpse another path—a covenant, not of swords and sanctions, but of shared faith, purpose, and peoplehood—a covenant grounded in the legacy of Abraham and the vision of prophets.
This covenant says:
Let us stop obsessing over Israel’s existence.
Let us end the culture of martyrdom and false victimhood.
Let us embrace truth, history, and moderation.
The Day After: Not Just Iran
Soon, the headlines may read: “Negotiations resume over Iran’s nuclear weapons,” or “Talks begin on disarming missiles and rebuilding Gaza.” These are necessary. But are they enough?
Why are we not negotiating something higher? Not a regime change. Mind change.
Why are we not aspiring to a world of mutual respect, dignity, and ethical responsibility?
In my book Upgrading ESG, I emphasised the potential of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a blueprint for a better future. Yes, the UN has its flaws. However, if it provided us with one coherent framework for global cooperation, it is this.
And it’s time to return to it.
Channelling Obsession into Progress
Let’s be honest: the world’s obsession with Israel and the concept of “Palestinianism” has distorted truth, fueled hate, and robbed people of their futures. But imagine what could happen if that energy were rechanneled.
Instead of falsifying history and vilifying one people, we could:
Solve real hunger
Eliminate poverty
Tackle global health crises
Improve education
Promote peace and justice
It’s not a fantasy—it’s a choice. The UN SDGs already map the path.
The Blueprint Exists: The 17 UN SDGs
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are more than goals; they are a blueprint for a global “Good Society.”
Here they are:
No Poverty
Zero Hunger
Good Health and Well-being
Quality Education
Gender Equality
Clean Water and Sanitation
Affordable and Clean Energy
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
Reduced Inequality
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Responsible Consumption and Production
Climate Action
Life Below Water
Life on Land
Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Partnerships for the Goals
These are not just technocratic targets—they are the spiritual antithesis of hate, war, and destruction.
Let’s Bury the Obsession
The world’s obsession with the destruction of Israel is toxic. It drains resources, inflames minds, and undermines regional growth. We must replace this obsession with an obsession for good.
A mind change, not a regime change.
A moral upgrade, not another missile.
A shared mission, not shared animosity.
And yes—let our hostages go.
Yes—recognise Israel.
Yes—honour Jewish history and connection to the land.
And yes—create dignity and a future for Palestinians, too.
Rabbi Sacks, the Good Society, and a Shared Future
Rabbi Jonathan Sacks taught that a “Good Society” is not one without conflict, but one with shared values and moral structure.
It’s time to:
Learn from the Abraham Accords.
Rebuild from destruction.
Accept that there is one God, and many ways to serve Him.
Let’s create a new covenant of Abraham, where Jews, Christians, Muslims, and all people of conscience join in a shared journey toward ethical progress.
Final Word: From Headline to Reality
"Am I dreaming? Or is this the beginning of what we can actually build?"
The Abraham Accords, the SDGs, and the Good Society are not mutually exclusive. They are complementary pillars of a world aching to be rebuilt.
So let us dream out loud.
Let us work, educate, negotiate, and inspire ourselves toward this future.
Because maybe, just maybe, the dream is how it starts.
